Hello.

I have been an avid listener of brainwaves (theta, delta, gamma), schumann resonances and binaural beats and I was wondering if this were a sin.

I purchased mp3s from this site brainsync.com/ and also some from itunes especially for sessions like “Attracting wealth” “Deep sleep”. I also have sessions like Winning, Studying, Focus, Deep meditation and attracting wealth.

Also, I downloaded an mp3 from itunes called “Theta waves with 3rd eye booster”. Out of all my MP3s this is probably the most “IFFY” one.

Are these brainwave frequencies and binaural beats considered “occult” or legitimate psychological science (simply tapping into the pineal gland)

Thanks

It used to be called the Mozart Effect. I would recommend Gregorian Chant. It’s just as beneficial with no toxic side effects.

i have no clue how one could see this as a sin on any level. i am semi familiar with binaural beats. i think perhaps you are thinking about this too much. worry about ACTUAL sins.

Brother, instead of placing trust in those worthless worldly things, focus all your faith on God your Father and Jesus. Sin or no sin, wealth should not be wanted; only God can provide wealth worth keeping. All those things like winning, wealth, etcetera, should be cast away from your thoughts. I urge you to consult your priest and talk to him about this. If you put faith and reliance on this and not God, I believe it would be sinful.

I pray for you, brother!

Amen, I say to you.

I would be very careful with these things. I myself indulged in them for about a week, stopping immediately when I noticed strange side effects. Like everything else, I think it is not good to mess with the brain in any artificial way. People have had issues, as far as I have read, with these sorts of tools. Consider that it is mostly people online that provide software etc. If something goes wrong, no real way to get help. No real study to know the short-term and long-term side effects.

There is one music that is truly powerful: sacred silence. This one we barely ever listen to. When we contemplate the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament, or when we climb a mountain or sit by the seaside, and we lay back and hear the wonderful sacred silence, how great is that for our mind, greater than anything else.

Other musics are also very nice, of course. I love all classical music, as well as Gregorian chant.

On the other hand, I have spent some time listening to more modern music (including rock, electronic music, etc.) and the consequences on behavior and mood have been terrible. I even tried to re-start after a while, and experienced the same side effects. Not good. I am worried every time I walk out the door and all I see around me is people listening to music constantly.

Does that make it sinful? No. But we should aim for perfection, not just to not doing what is sinful 🙂
