First, if this is in the wrong place, can someone move it?
Now, the message. I thought it would be kinda cool for us to have a litany for our Guardian Angel. I saw one on the internet, and went, ‘Yea…’, and I pulled a few of their exclamations, but most of it is mine, and the concluding prayers are mine (save for the obvious ones), and I want to know what you think. Is it ok? What is a bit close to the mark, can you help me with the exclamations and the prayers?
Without further to do, here it is:
Litany of our Guardian Angel
Lord have mercy.
Christ have mercy.
Lord have mercy.
Christ hear us,
Christ graciously hear us.
God, the Father of heaven,
have mercy on us.
God the Son, Redeemer of the World,
God the Holy Spirit,
Holy Trinity, one God,
Angel of God,
pray for us.
My dear guardian,
My loving companion,
Light of our souls,
Divine Guide,
Divine Counsellor,
Path to the Way,
Door to truth,
Director of my soul,
Director of prayer,
Friend in Christ,
Spiritual partner,
Faithful lover,
Lover of chastity,
Lover of innocence,
Model of purity,
Model of docility,
Heavenly Guard,
First defence of all evil,
Protector of dangers,
My guardian through life,
My shield at the hour of my death,
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world
spare us, O Lord*.*
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world
hear us, O Lord*.*
Lamb of God, Who takes away the sins of the world
have mercy on us*.*
Let us pray
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule, to guide. Amen.
May your love for me guide me to the One who is love, and direct our daily tasks toward the greater glory of God. Send my prayers, and direct our souls to the glory of heaven, so that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. We ask this through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
O loving and almighty Father, who, by a gift of your grace and mercy, has appointed to each of your children a guardian angel to share in your love and to direct us on the path of light. May this offering allow us to grow in community with one another, to share in the divinity of Christ, with Mary, the mother of God, all the angels and saints throughout the world, and my brothers and sisters here with me and our faithful departed. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
