Is the Little Books series trustworthy in general? It is associated with Bishop Ken Untener, an admittedly controversial figure.

The poor man has been dead since 2004. I don’t think, he has any influence on the “Little Books” now.

Most Rev. Kenneth Untener was my former Bishop here in Saginaw.
The only thing I think we can all agree on is that his supporters tend to view him as a nice man (which he was) and yet ignore the things about him that were controversial.
We can also agree on the fact that the people who do not care for him tend to focus only on his controversies (which there were more than a few) and ignore the positive things he did.
The Little Books, which he invented, would be one of those positive things. I find them to be quite helpful and I always seem to learn something new from them. They mostly focus on historical items about the Church or one of the saints or historical figures, and they also focus on the Gospel readings over the course of the season, be it Lent, Advent, Easter, etc. And of course as someone mentioned, His Excellency has been gone for many years now so it isn’t like he is writing them anymore.
You can flip through one and decide if it is worthwhile or not. They may not be everyone’s cup of tea, and that is OK.
