Just curious as to everyone else’s opinion on this:

Last year, I prayed the Little Flower Novena (St. Therese). As many of you may know, one of her signs is roses from Heaven.

Well, this year I noticed a new rose plant growing in my garden landscaping in the front of my house. I did not plant it, nor did anyone that I know of.

While there is another rose growing about five feet away, there is also several feet of concrete between the locations. My mother in law does a lot of gardening and says it is impossible for a rose to spontaneously grow in this location. She says my wife must have planted one and just forgot about it (and I know she didn’t).

Well, I prayed for my wife’s salvation and me to overcome some lust issues. So I feel that the prayer has been answered, and I have help in Heaven. I know people will always find a scientific answer, but I have faith it is St. Therese.

What do you all think?

That sounds like a lovely story and only God can know if it is as you hope and feel. St Therese did promise that after her death she would lef fall a shower of roses. If she has let some fall into your garden, how blessed you are. God bless you, Trishie

I like St. Therese too! I’ll get to her in a minute…

A few years ago, I lost my great-grandmother’s wedding ring. We were visiting friends away from home and the ring slipped off my finger at some point. I was devastated by this. (I know, I know, it was only a ring…but still, a ring that meant a great deal to me.) We looked everywhere…and I do mean everywhere. The ring was gone. I began a novena to St. Anthony, the patron of lost articles. About 5 days into the novena, I went to our van to get something and found the ring, laying in plain view on the edge of the very back seat. THANK YOU GOD!! I was so excited I ran and called my husband, who was also overjoyed. However, as I began to tell people about this experience, I noticed that they all tried to justify my discovery…“You must have overlooked it before”, etc. The more I heard this, the more I began to question the miraculous return of my ring. However, in a moment of clarity, before the Blessed Sacrament, I came to realize that I had been given a great gift. To dismiss that gift as anything less that the miracle it was would be to reject the gift entirely. I went back to my initial feelings when I found the ring in a place I had looked several times, just sitting there like God had placed it where I wouldn’t miss it. It was one of those moments when you realize how deeply and intimately God loves YOU. Who would want to explain that away??

Regarding your situation specifically, I think that we live in a world that questions EVERYTHING! Look at your rose bush and thank St. Therese for such a personal sign of God’s love and provision!

When I got my rose messages, it was not anything that an objective observer would consider noteworthy: roses of a specific color (yellow) in church – really bright and big and after not noticing any for months; a 2x5 foot patch of rose petals on the road, as if someone dropped a giant bouquet on the road and all the petals were shaken free; a guy on a scooter zipping right beside me with a basket in the front, full of roses (right when I turned and said the word “church” during a discussion). All in the same weekend. To those without faith, it’s nothing but a bunch of coincidences. Maybe selective memory.

To those with faith, however, it is something else. Miracles by their very nature should be rare, otherwise they will become mundane and therefore no longer miracles. As such, I think what you experienced is how God usually likes to operate – a little message here and there, like tiny strands that, when put together, form an unbreakable rope…or a beautiful tapestry…

Anyway, there are no coincidences. As an aside, sometimes people say that “we are exactly where we are intended to be”. I completely disagree with that, because we have free will as well. But I do agree that there are no coincidences.

So in the end, I think you received a wonderful message from St. Therese. You may not receive your prayer in the manner and timing that you wish, but she has heard your prayers and is interceding for you most diligently.

Most definitely !!

This thread reminds me of something that happend the other day…I was talking to my mother about how I read St. Therese’s diary, and she told me about how four-five years ago, in the dead of winter (In MA mind you…so loads of snow and ice) the roses bloomed right outside my bedroom window! My parents had bushes outside my window and another one right next to it, outside the next room, and only the ones behind my window bloomed. This apparantly happend two winters in a row. I never knew that!! My mom told my dad that in some way, St. Therese was working in my life, but my dad just kinda scoffed…(But he couldn’t explain the roses blooming in winter either. 👍)

Yes that does happen and good for you brother, I could share many.

don’t know if this is significant or not, but today is my 7th day of the Glory Be Novena to St. Therese, I’ve been praying about a vocational purpose…and today I was watching the 5:00 news (which I never watch), I rewound the DVR to catch something again, pressed live, and for literally 1 second at the tail end of a commercial was a bright red rose in the center of the screen. I know St. Therese sends roses, but does through television count too 🙂 and what exactly is the significance of the rose if someone would be so kind to explain. Thank you. It was a great feeling nontheless.

The significance to seeing a rose when you’ve been praying either to her or for something that is in her patronage, is that St. Therese has heard you and is letting you know (her order, Carmelites, pray for priests/vocations).

As far as seeing them on television, I would say that counts, but I suppose it would depend on how they were there. If where you saw them is not common for you then, yes, but if you constantly watch gardening shows or shows that show people’s gardens (like some sit-coms) then I would want further confirmation (maybe that shows that I’m hard of heart?).

no, that’s completely understandable. Anyone could see a rose if they work at Earl May. No, but this was the 5:00 news, a tail end of a commercial for a lodge, it was two people sitting at a table with a bright red rose in the center, I’ve never seen it before and probably never will again cuz I don’t watch that much t.v.
