Although I have attended several LittleRock Scripture Studies at my former parish, I have found that I was getting less and less out of them. I found many of the question too personal to answer. Also, I considered the other questions, in many cases, to be too lightweight to be of value in learning Scripture.I heard Rosalind Moss express some reservation about the Little Rock Bible Study on a Catholic Answers Live broadcast. I am interested in what might be incorrect about that particular bible study.

Quite correct on the Episcopalean Minister. Last Fall our group did Revelation and he was the author. It was in my opinion quite good and not at all problematic. It was by far the best material on Revelation that I have experienced in my life time. A real contrast to the “Left Behind Series” by LeHay.My wife and I are currently doing a 28 week study of John’s Gospel and I would have to say although it costs much more than a LR study it has about 5 times more meetings and Fr. Echert is the speaker on the video. The Little Rock Studies did not have any videos or tapes. We did The Little Rock Passion study which looks at the Passion in all four Gospels last year and are currently studying the Little Rock on the Book of Wisdom.One observation I would make for all the studies, it is essential to look up all the additional Biblical citations and read them in context. If one doesn’t bother with the extra effort one misses a lot of the “meat” in the study.Dear Jim,
Years ago I was in a group that used Little Rock materials, and even then I thought they were at best a waste of time.
Now, fortunately, we have both Jeff Cavins and Father John Echert (of EWTN experts), conducting Bible study classes, so those days are over. If I were not in an area where first rate teachers and materials were available, I’d go to Catholic Exchange and try to get some of the things they offer. Actually, we use many of Scott Hahn’s materials with Father Echert, and I believe they come through Catholic Exchange. Jeff writes his own, of course, and he has worked with Scott Hahn.
We are doing Exodus this year (all year), and these are the very best materials I’ve ever seen for Bible Study. Another year we spent on Genesis, and again, the materials were great.
I’m almost afraid to mention this, for fear of being mistaken, but it does seem to me that one of the writers used with the Little Rock series was an Episcopalian minister. I think I have successfully put such things out of my mind, because it was all so depressing then, and everything is so fine now!!!
If you can possibly afford it, get Jeff’s Bible Timeline for starters!
