Little Sisters of the Poor

A very fine lady who suffered more than she needed to in order to pursue her calling. Her work was not viewed with much sympathy by her priest and bishop who, I believe, wanted to take it over and claim it for themselves. God bless her.

She would go out into the public and beg in place of the poor she took care of. On one occasion some cranky old guy punched her in the head. She simply replied, “Thank you. That was for me. Can I have something for my poor?”

Two of their representatives made their yearly visit to our parish just this past Sunday. Theirs is a very worthy cause.
