Liturgy of the Hours Music?

Hello All,

I have the 4 - volume set of the Divine Office.
I also have the 1 - volume Christian Prayer Book (in large print).

Now, in both of these compilations, only the lyrics are given for the opening hymns. Of course, there is the reference of “this hymn can be sung with the melody of this ‘other’ song.” With this said, my problem is that I know neither the melodies to the actual hymns or the ‘other’ songs that are referenced for the actual hymns.

In conclusion, is there a separate supplemental resource (or hymnal) that has the actual melodic musical notations to all of the hymns that are found in the breviary? If so, where can I find one? If not, who can I go to so as to recommend the creation of such a resource?

As a musician who loves to “pray twice by singing,” I would truly appreciate such a book.
Please help.

You can find these in the Christian Prayer book, standard print. You have the large print, which unfortunately omits the musical notation.

I now live in a discernment house, and the house leader is in a community that he, himself, is founding with the help of not only his community members, but also bishops and other clergy. Eventually, the hope is that the community will become a new religious order, which will take on the 3 canonical vows of celibacy, poverty, and obedience.

In any regards, I found out on their website that their community is in the middle of a project. Here is how they describe it:

“We are in the process of creating an easy to use hymnal to accompany the breviary. The hymnal is comprised of traditional and contemporary hymns along with some original compositions. If you would like to help with this project, we are in need of composing software and help with copyright and publishing costs.”

This news truly excites me!!!
