Please explain the following to me.

“This is a doctrinally rich book (Book of Ruth) which the Church
often uses in its liturgy. The names of Ruth and Boaz are read three times at Mass, where the liturgy of the word uses the genealogy given in Matthew.”

Okay, is it the NAMES are used three times during ONE mass or does it mean that the names are read during the Matthew genealogy which is scheduled for reading three times during the fullness of the cycles?

Also, are the readings scheduled for the week DAYS on a two-year cycle and the readings for the weekends on a three-year cycle?

I’m not positive, but I think it means that the Matthew genealogy is read three times during a one year period.
Also, are the readings scheduled for the week DAYS on a two-year cycle and the readings for the weekends on a three-year cycle?

Yes, week days are on a 2 year cycle; Sundays are on a 3 year cycle.
 
I am trying to find the readings for the below dates. I do not see
a search on that link that you gave. Thank you. It is very nice, but I’d be reading for days and days trying to locate these below.

May 28, 2009 - May 30, 2009
May 18, 2010 -May 20, 2010
June 7, 2011 -l June 9, 2011
May 26, 2012 - May 28, 2012

I’m trying to figure out a correlation between the Dec 17th readings or maybe the other two days and the readings on the above dates.
(I saw on a French site March 19th a Joseph memorial or something with the genealogy of Matthew. My French isn’t that great so I’m not too sure.)

The above dates are Jewish Pentecost (not like Christian Pentecost).

I know our Gen 49:10 is read on Jewish Pentecost. What else is
related between their Pentecost and our way of doing mass etc?

The dates you give (except for the year 2012) occur in the 10 days between Ascension Thursday and Pentecost Sunday - the 7th week of the Easter Season. The readings for the weeks of Easter Season are the same each year.

2009 - Ascension Thurs 5/21, Pentecost 5/31
2010 - Ascension Thurs 5/13, Pentecost 5/23
2011 - Ascension Thurs 6/2, Pentecost 6/12
2012 - Ascension Thurs 5/17, Pentecost 5/27
(Celebration of Ascension Thursday is usually transferred to the next Sunday, thus the date will read 4 days later on the liturgical calendar)

**5/28/09 **(Thursday of 7th week of Easter) Acts 22:30; 23:6-11; John 17:20-26
5/29/09 (Friday…) Acts 25:13-21; John 21:15-19
5/30/09 (Saturday…) Acts 28:16-20,30-31; John 21:20-25

5/18/10 (Tuesday of 7th week of Easter) - Acts 20:17-27, John 17:1-11
5/19/10 (Wednesday …) - Acts 20:28-38; John 17: 11-19
5/20/10 (Thursday …) - Acts 22:30; 23:6-11; John 17:20-26

6/7/11, 6/8/11, and 6/9/11 are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the 7th week of Easter, so the readings are the same as the ones given above for 5/18/10-5/20/10

**5/26/12 **(Saturday of 7th week) Acts 28:16-20,30-31; John 21:20-25
**5/27/12 **(Pentecost Sunday) Acts 2:1-11; 1Cor 12:3-7,12-13; John 20:19-23
(2012 is Cycle B, and these are alternatives for the second reading and the gospel for cycle B: Gal 5:16-25; John 15:26-27; 16:12-15)
**5/28/12 **is Monday of ?? week of ordinary time. (I’ll let you track this one down if you really want it. My brain is tired! 🙂 )
