Dear Forum Members,

I came on here a few days back when a Catholic friend/school teacher told me that I was woefully ignorant of modern Catholicism and she recommended this list so that I could get abreast of things.

For about 4 years I have been putting out a daily e-mail with the Lives of the Celtic and Old English Saints.

Father Ambrose,

Thank you for this. I had subscribed to it at one time previously and lost it when I changed e-mail servers.

Many years,

Fr.Ambroze:

Where do you get these saints from? I have only heard of a couple English saints and most are postschism 1054.

Catholic Eagle,

There are a lot of English saints. Interestingly there are many, many saints that are still revered by the Orthodox in the British Isles.

I have a listing of hundreds of Irish saints that covers almost every day of the year. The Scots have almost as many and the English and Welsh do as well. This information is easily gleaned from places like ‘Butler’s Life’s of the Saints’ and the ‘Our Sunday Visitor Encyclopedia of Catholic Saints’. There are also a number of websites… though I can’t recall them off the top of my head. Do a Google search for them, however beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing - there are a few queer/warped wanna-be/pseudo-Catholic groups out there wanting a reversion to a form of Celtic Orthodoxy/Catholicism that never truly existed anywhere in the Emerald Isles.

Your unworthy brother in Christ and by the Grace of God a future Maronite priest,
Donnchadh
