Hi Neil…I haven’t read all the responses; however I have been celibate near on 35 years it must be now. It was exceptionally hard after 15 years of marriage (annulled) and family life to live my choice of celibate chastity. It has been a journey and very very difficult I found in the beginning and what I longed for more than the sexual per se, was companionship. I live alone. It is a case I think of pondering and making up one’s mind where one is called, one’s vocation and then making a decision and sticking to it, even in the face of failures and difficulties - of perseverance in the state and prayerfully asking God’s help and Grace. Nowadays it does not worry me at all being celibate and I am quite used to living alone - and in fact prefer it now - and all it implies with striving to live in celibate chastity. It is a journey of persevering determination or such it has been for me.
