I think I gravitate towards people who think the same as me. There is a distinct political flavour in it now, that is to say, conservative.
But also Christians. I’m not really interested in hearing from atheists anymore. Or even Buddhists and Muslims. The question is, am I being too closed? Bigoted even?
I need to monitor this. It is very easy to become a cookie cutter sheep and stop thinking altogether. Pray and obey some say is the way. But I’m not convinced of that.
I gravitate a lot to individuals with fresh insights into Christianity.

Actually it’s pray, pay and obey and we are commanded to do all three in Scripture. Jesus is very convincing.

Looking for ‘fresh’ insights into Christianity is why there are thousands of protestant denominations.

If I wanted a serious lecture on "Catholic “truths” I would have posted in a serious sub-forum.

perhaps but also why there are some interesting Catholics instead of the cookie cutter kind which discourage thinking.

I find that I experience seasons a cycles when there are times I want the old tradition, well known and familiar. But then there are times when I crave fresh ideas and perspectives. I think as long as we take it all to prayer.

But even there, there are times when I seem to want the traditional piety and other times when I want to create my own expression of devotion. Thank God for silence where it all finds rest.

Doesn’t everyone?

Not everyone can continually Evangelize and Debate. For some, it can become a burden.

Make sure it’s not too Fresh, good chance it’ll be Heresy.

I’m not going seriously debate him here right now. But you’ll find people like Bishop Barron, are big fans of Thomas Merton. So there is a wide berth allowed for variation of interpretation and style in Catholicism, which is what I like about it.
Look at Pope Francis. Some ultra conservatives, think he is almost Satanic. Whereas most liberals embrace him. I probably prefer Francis to Benedict, but that is just a personal preference.
