Why would it be so difficult to live in this world being separated from those who are the enemies of Christ? Living near God’s enemies can be very threatening, if they should desire to use their ‘enemy’ status, for vengeful, hateful attacks. Living in the world with half believers and half unbelievers with everyone associating with everyone else with no opportunity to remain in a ‘community’ of sorts is like putting a cat in a dog’s den or a dog in a lion’s den. It might not come out too well.

But it’s strange how such interminglings seems to be the ‘essence’ of what LIFE is about…

True. Where different elements come together, things get interesting, and sometimes it works out for the best. Perhaps that is not entirely unexpected, since, though we have our differences, we are all children of God, all created in the image and likeness of God.

We are never truly “really” far from God’s enemies while on this earth. By praying and receiving the graces to make good choices, we can keep them at bay most of the time. Occasionally though, God allows one, or even temptation to find it’s way too us, to keep us mindful that salvation must constantly be worked for and won again and again. Rest and then small trials come again that we can handle with HIS grace.
