My employer has recently made a new hire who is heavily involved in LGBTQA activism. This person is making plans (with my boss’s permission) to begin targeting this population for marketing. She’s designing and printing materials that identify our office as a LGBTQA “safe zone” and is putting rainbow logos on existing materials. This has completely blindsided me and I am unsure of how to respond. I will always serve any client with respect and dignity that they are due as my sister or brother in Christ, but to be in an environment that celebrates and encourages lifestyles contrary to natural law feels like a very different thing. Has anyone else been in this situation that has some advice for me?

This kind of advocacy is fairly common nowadays, even in Fortune 500 companies. I have personally been exposed to these advocacy campaigns as well in the workplace.

Your best defense is the rosary. Praying the rosary daily and fasting are your best weapons. Ask for intercession from the saints, and especially Mary. In no time, this situation will be remedied on its own without you having to do anything. Try a personal rosary campaign for the next 30 days and see how fast things will change for the better.

A lot of people just don’t like businesses to be overtly political. So, while you may attract some business, you’ll never know how much you will turn away because people will just walk with their feet and not tell you why they aren’t considering your business for services.

Not everyone makes a big deal about their cultural conservatism; however, I think it’s important to remind your boss that diversity and tolerance includes people who don’t agree with LBGT politics.

It may be that he/she is only following the direction that the higher ups want to go, but if you don’t speak up and voice an objection, then they’ll assume that everyone’s on the same page.

Most of us are like you (and me). We try to be good people. We really don’t care if people are gay or straight or whatever. We treat people how we want to be treated because it’s the right thing to do.

I like the idea of saying the rosary. However, I’d also advise being brave and voicing your concerns about going this direction. It’s so important that people hear dissenting voices, even if they are dismissed. I don’t think that I’ve done any of my Liberal friends any favors by not calling them out on their BS sooner.

Not everyone likes overt political activism, from either the right or the left. When I was a Protestant, I would look for the “P-Flag” on a church property because I wanted to see if a church was politically neutral or if they were willing to promote Leftist politics. As the “P-flag” is a political, not a religious, symbol. A lot of people don’t like church (or business) being mixed with politics (on the Left or on the Right) and once you start going down that road, it’s hard to come back to neutral. You want people to buy your products, not come up with reasons to look elsewhere.

You and I both know you’ll probably get pooh-poohed, but, at least, you made people aware that there are dissenting opinions and that not everyone likes it when businesses start getting overtly political one way or another.

Thank you both for your encouragement and sound advice. Please pray for me as I navigate this situation.
