In the other thread of the Holy Spirit, we shared about the Gifts. Here I think that there is a place for going further into living with the HS in that there are so many gifts so many ways the HS uses them, so many traps satin will try to create havoc in our lives especially in the word of PRIDE.

We have related to the fruits I think Galatians 5:22, fruits of the spirit /world, 1 Corinthians 12 and 13, on gifts and Love. Matt 5: Beattitudes, then I can’t remember where the reading Jesus spoke and is also in the Revelations.
The goates came to God and said Lord! Lord! we cast out demons in your name, we healed the sick in your name, all gifts of the spirit and yet God said " Be gone from me you evil doers, when I was infirmed you did not come to see me, when I was imprisoned you did not come to visit me, when i had no clothing …no food…no cover you did not help me…
Then God said: come to me you who have done my will, and the sheep said “Lord ! Lord ! when did we do your will”. And God said: “when you helped the least in my name you helped Me”.

It seems that the gifts of the HS will be found in those who are guided with Love as their motive and God’s MERCY.

Is this right? tell me where are other references please :hmmm:

Hello littleone again,

Every Friday, I have a bible study with the group who most of them pray in tounge. Tonight, I asked one lady about some images that I normally see during prayer. She helped me with that by keep praying and ask God to help me understand it and pray. I also asked why those who do not have the gift has to practice by using “A, B, C, D”? She said that if you said “ABCD” and think of God, God could grant you the gift. I asked her then how come they don’t pray as normal with some understanding first?

With this question, she said I asked too much that at some point no one will give me answer. She told me to go and pray.

I was kind of sad but did not say anything. I was sad because I knew there was something wrong about the way they ‘practice’.

I feel that I should not ask them anymore but pray.

PS: the image came up to mind my tonight was a coffin with a big cross on it, and the person laying on top is our Pope Benedict . I did not know exactly what it was all about, but at that moment I prayed for his safety for the coming visit to Turkey.

God bless!

PS. I am sorry if my reply might not be relevant to your post.

]Hi water I am interested in your thread some of what you have writen are natural happenings at prayer meatings, eg toungs praise healings and what ever the Holy Spirit wishes for the goodness of the church.
Hello littleone again,

Every Friday, I have a bible study with the group who most of them pray in tounge.
Tonight, I asked one lady about some images that I normally see during prayer. She helped me with that by keep praying and ask God to help me understand it and pray.
The Bible tells us that there are thiose who have a word and others to interpret them. As far as visions are conserned there can be some that belong to the person who saw them, where as others see them, and someone will ask if someone has had a vision, usually to confirm and or interprete the vision.

I also asked why those who do not have the gift has to practice by using “A, B, C, D”? She said that if you said “ABCD” and think of God, God could grant you the gift.
I asked her then how come they don’t pray as normal with some understanding first?
You did not say which gift, but I would suppose that you are relating to tongs? If so, as mentioned in the other thread I mentioned that I refused to speak in tongs because of what others had said.
I was the negative one there, however that did not mean to say that I would not be aboe to have the gift. When my turn came I wa asked to speak “Abba Father” over and over again. It was from that my tong God gave me developed.

With this question, she said I asked too much that at some point no one will give me answer. She told me to go and pray.
I was kind of sad but did not say anything. I was sad because I knew there was something wrong about the way they ‘practice’.

It is posssible that you may have the gift of discernment here BUT don’t take that as being the truth I have not prayed or invited others to join me about your situation, and you havent asked either. There are times when our questions are to be taken to God in prayer or to a priest.

I believe that you are relating appropriately in praying. Youcould ask others if they might take time to pray about the vision it could be true or it could be satin. The best is to pray and if you are still worried then take it to your or a priest who I think would give you guidance.

God bless!

PS. I am sorry if my reply might not be relevant to your post.
Don’t worry, one persons gift is another persons query but together they walk the line of prayer and both gain when the heart is set afire by their Love of God.

Thanks Littleone for your advices. I would ask a priest when I go to confession.

We must remember to test everything.

This is one of the reasons I am a firm believer in having Pastoral participation (one of the great Pastoral gifts is the gift of discernment) and a Prayer Group having a core group in it’s leadership. We folks in a core group, pray together, lift each other up in praye daily and invoke the gifts of leadership which includes the gift of discernment. Because God equips those in authority with gifts for building up the Body, he often gives them in different degrees according to the need of the Body.
For example, the gift of ***Discernment. ***The Holy Father has this gift in abundance, next Bishop, then Priests and Deacons. Next leaders in ministry and then of course the entire Body.
I think a teaching on Discernment should be on the Prayer Groups teaching agenda 3 or 4 times a year, at least. Very important.
This gift, allows for discerning spirits. Wherever folks are worhiping and praising the Lord, you will all too often find the enemy trying to interfere.
Next, the gift of discernment in Leadership, tests teachings. As water has mentioned, often teachings are not right on target. Leadership must always be aware of this and be ready to deal with it in a very loving and private (if possible) way.
Then very important, the gift of Discernment tests Prophesy.
One of the most common things in every Prayer Group I have been part of is someone getting a “word” and immediately everyone, including the leadership, thanking and praising the Lord for the word. NO TESTING? No, testing. This is probably one of the most overlooked areas of discernment.

Scripture says we are to test everything, keep what is good and reject that which is not good.

I would be testing the teaching of this A,B,C thing using the gift of discernment. If using alphabet is not bearing the “good fruits”, I would find it suspicious.

Hope this helps a little bit.🙂

Absolutely!
"Two or three prophets should speak, and the others discern."
1 Corinthians 14:29

Discernment and confirmation are cirtical.

The gift of prophecy is time by time. For the same prophet, his prophecy needs to be discerned and tested every single time.

So are the visions. Usually in a prayer group, visions need to be confirmed also. In the prayer meeting, usually one person’s vision will be confirmed by the other’s.

Thank you for your points. Yes I agree that DISCERNMENT has a very strong place in every group. In actual fact I believe that to work without it one would be in error. Would you agree?

This is not exactly what you are asking about yet it is.

My husband is a deacon, this year has been very hard for him physically - from developing and agressive staph infection to having quadruple bypass & congestive heart failure. Thanks be to God that is all under control and he no longer is in heart failure. But, his recovery has been slow, one step forward and two steps back. However, Glory To God, we are making headway, and looking forward to a bright year next year.

I am telling you all this to say, that my husband has changed. God has done a major work in him, and we have had to walk the year in faith for everything. It has been amazing, but hard.

He was not able to serve the Altar until late summer again. I have watched him and again tonight, be so tired and weak, yet determined and struggling to get to Church to serve Divine Liturgy. **That is when the Holy Spirit takes over!!!

**His steps are strong, his voice is strong and he moves freely through the service. Now we are Eastern Rite - Ruthenian Byzantine, serving in a Melkite Greek Catholic Church - our Divine Liturgy is at least an 1 1/2 hours long. The role if the deacon is much more than in the Latin Rite. So he is moving rapidly. People say he is definately improving and I say YES! I have to agree, though it is not always seen with the eyes.
**
When the Holy Spirit takes over, I see what he is to become - RESTORED and RENEWED!

It is the grace to place Scripture into action. **It is not ‘name it and claim it’ , it is putting God’s Word into practice and speaking what his Word says. See when God changed Abraham his name, changing it from Abram, each time he said he was Abraham, he was litteraly saying “I am the Father of Nations” until the time he could believe it. Then that same part of Scripture says we are justified by Abrahams faith. So through the grace of the Holy Spirit we speak according to God’s Word and we see what is not be, not what is.

God is good!

It is very moving to read your testimony.

How beautiful it is to live by faith, not by sight.

I just said a prayer for you and yours.
God bless!

And I just cried. Thank you for your mercy and generoisty of sharing God’s gift of Love.

Pani - a Slavonic term for the deacon’s wife. Some pronounce it with long a and short i, while others pronounce it with short a and short I.

Thought I would just share a little language lesson 😃

Language lesson received.🙂
While thinking about writing you back, James 15:5 came to mind:
**“and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up.” **
Be encouraged, your husband will be fine. Just keep on praying with faith.

I often lift up all the prayer requests on this forum and including all forum members in my prayer. Sacred Heart of Jesus, I put all my trust in you.

God bless!

Can anyone tell me please,
Does the church have a format for the uplifting of those with differernt gifts that might be deemned as special gifts, such as healing deliverence, miricals, etc, so that the best can come from the individual who has these gifts. Also what would be the best way any individual could sponser any person with obvious gifts in the church?
