Does anyone know how to locate a Catholic counsellor to help with past issues of self abuse (porn, sexual addiction, masturbation, homosexual exposure at a young age, etc) and their devastating mental/emothional effects on his sexuality? I’ve checked out Dobson’s Focus on the Family counselling line & was give names of Christian counsellors in the area. This young man, aged 19, really would feel better with a Catholic counsellor to help him sort out almost a decade of decadent behavior. He admits that his spirituality is the MOST important aspect of his life now- but dealing with the psychological impact will undoubtedly be a long haul. I called one of these “Christian” counsellors & he told me “I used to be Catholic…I can see where his issues got started!” I see his desire for a Catholic counsellor may not not be a bad idea at all- although Catholic Social Services often claim to give “non-demoninational help”.
