I purchased the Logos Catholic Scripture Study Package about a week ago after listening to Al Kresta and Steve Ray talk about it on the radio. So far, I LOVE it!

The price IS a little steep but when you look at the resources you get, it is well worth it. There is no way one can collect the all resources either online or hard copies for the same price.

There is a bit of a learning curve but I am able to play around in it in pretty well so far. As with any new software program it just takes time to learn all of its features but I am already working on building an impressive Catholic Apologetics tool.

They are also taking pre-orders of the entire Navarre Bible Series. I had been looking to purchase this series for my bookshelf but if I can get an electronic copy and interface it with Logos – WOW!!!

If anyone is thinking about purchasing the Logos software, Ave Maria Radio and Steve Ray both have coupon codes for 15% off any package. Type in either “AMR” or “STEVE” (without quotes) at checkout.

I apologize if this sounds like an advertisement for the software but I am very impressed with this product. It sure beats making margin notes in my Bible!

Finally, I second the suggestion for any current users to take a look at Verbum – The Logos Bible Software Catholic Blog. They have some good tips on setting Logos up for Catholics. It seems like the Logos user forums on the main Logos software site is geared more for how to use the product in general and not for discussing how we, as Catholics, can use it to study and grow in the Faith. If there are enough Logos software users here, perhaps we could start a Catholic Answers Social Group here on CAF?

One of the main benefits to purchasing a collection in logos rather than one book, is the engines that come with it. It’s these engines that make study so awesome. Thats also where the high cost come in. Right click on a word and see the Greek and where else it’s used. As suggested, look at the Verbum blog on all of the things it can do.

I was at Franciscan University of Steubenville Applied Biblical Studies Conference this year trying to use my Kindle NABRE to navigate to the verses being referenced and it was a pain! You had to show the table of contents, select the book, then the chapter, then page forward to the verse.

In Logos/Verbum, you type it in to the search box and BOOM you’re there. All the linked cross references etc. are right there. It is so much easier to use when the verses are flying by.

I love Logos/Verbum! I am going to go look for the social group and join it if it exists. 👍

BTW Logos has payment plans up to 18 months if you need to stretch it out for budget purposes. You can create a savings account called Book Cache if you want to stick to your budget and save up for future purchases.

Before going there try this one…
**Biblia Clerus, a FREE download from Clerus.org (Vatican site)

Hyperlinked everything…CCC, Church Doc’s, Saints writings (classics), NAB/RSV
It really is free! Thank You Father Bouchez (who programmed this since 1992) **

*Try reading the catechism or church documents with the hyperlinks:thumbsup:
I think this is a Multi-Billion dollar industry, so not surprising that Logos comes out with Verbum for catholics and includes all the freebies out there, i.e. from ccel.org you can download some pdf’s (if you like to highlight), like Thereas of Avila on Prayer (interior castle) etc. *

Biblia Clerus is a slightly redacted at the French texts CD Ictus Win, issued under the responsibility of the version Congregation for the Clergy . By cons, it contains more texts in other languages (Spanish, Italian, English …). The Vatican diffuse this free program.

On the site of the Congregation for the Clergy you can download a full version of Biblia Clerus . His first recipients are priests who will be able to have on hand a complete library, to prepare their sermons and teachings. But faithful Catholic, or curious man will also benefit! This is the Ictus 3 complete engine in its latest version, with most of the textual basis of the CD Ictus. However, some Protestant Bible versions are missing, and ADIC can undertake technical service Biblia Clerus. By cons, this version is freely downloadable in a full version and free. Feel free to pass around the new you, to widely disseminate the wealth of the Gospel: Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium!

GO FOR IT!!
