Looking at Violent Images

Is it sinful to look at violent images? If so, is the sin grave? Thanks!
 
I don’t think so, in fact I deal with violent images in daily basis (I’m a criminal lawyer).
What’s the reason you are looking at these images?
 
As LostSheep7 said, I suppose it would all depend on the reason.

And even if it is a bad reason, I don’t think it would be a grave sin.
 
It was on TV. I’ve had this problem (which I’ve mentioned to a priest) where I think things are grave regardless of whether or not they actually are and then do them anyway, which kicked in when those images came up
 
Oh, nah, you’re good. No sin especially if it came up on the TV when you had no control. Even if you had control and watched Lord of the Rings style violence, no problem.
 
I sure hope not. Our Lord suffered a violent and painful death for me, so I am around images or figures of it all the time in memory of what He did for me.

Someone insisted I watch an actual beheading -
Some young Muslim - large hunting knife, with an old Christian guy…horrible.

I can’t even stand seeing a dead squirrel, by traffic.

Not even street fist fights -

It troubles my spirit in a very unnecessary way.
I salute cops, E.M.Ts, soldiers etc -
