Not it is not the US Marine Corps. I posted this video link several months ago but it is a well done video recruiting for the Alexian Brothers. Almost made me want to sign up. Provides a positive look at an active order. There are a few of the ads attached.

The one thing I wondered was whether it worked and they recruited more brothers. Certainly, not everyone is called to be a Priest.

Wow, what a great idea!

In these ever increasing secular times, many people have zero exposure to religous figures like priests, brothers or nuns, and if they do, it’s likely it could be negative, so this is a great way for an order to gain some visibility and show the positive side of their story. With young people relying more and more on TV, web surfing, and other electronic mediums to get their information, this type of advertising could really work. It surely helps that the commercial was done very professionally, and is so good it could probably fit right in with the Super Bowl ads we see every year. (if they could afford it!).

It sure got alot of play on local news shows and business shows like Neil Cavuto, which is great. Towards the end, one of the brothers said the commercial was doing better than even they expected, so thats good news!

I must say, I’ve never heard of the Alexian Brothers. There are probably a couple of hundred other orders just like them out there that are in the same boat. They could do well using the Alexians example…

I haven’t heard of the Alexian Brothers for a while. They are still active? Amazing. The most distinguished place I remember reading about them is in the book Possessed, where they help in the exorcism of a boy.

Here is their Web page. Says they consider vocations between 20-55. I had heard of the Alexian Brothers Health Care system but had no idea who was behind it.
