Hello all!

I’m having a little trouble finding that one truly inspirational passage from the Bible that really speaks to me heart and my purpose in life.
I’m trying to find a passage/quote from the bible that I can use for my senior quote, but I’ve hit some dead ends. I’ve found a couple that are close, but nothing that really jumps out at me as the right one. I’m looking for one that talks about undying faith and limitless possibilities in God, trust, and how He guides our steps and lays our paths if we have trust in Him…as it is my Senior quote, I want it to speak to my future with him and my goals and dreams secured in His love. If anyone could offer up any suggestion of bible passages, I would love it, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be about what I said above, just anything that you really find truly inspirational and appropriate:) Thanks in advance! God bless,

In Him,
Britty

If you’re looking for something that touches *my *heart, I could probably help:p. Best advice I can give you–try the Psalms and Proverbs…good stuff…the Book of Wisdom is good too.

not really sure what a senior quote is, unless you mean perhaps your “byline” in your high school yearbook or something similar

I would only suggest reading scripture every day meditatively and slowly. The daily readings are great, including the psalm. Read very slowly, out loud, the first time through, as if you were a lector. The next time, read it silently, and just stop eveytime a word or phrase strikes you, and stay with it, then move on in your reading.

nothing might jump out all at once, but it is a matter of forming a habit of daily, thoughtful reading of scripture that will lead to what you are looking for.

Ps 18:30 -
This God–his way is perfect; the promise of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him.

Ps 37:5 -
Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.

Ps 86:11 -
Teach me thy way, O LORD, that I may walk in thy truth; unite my heart to fear thy name.

Ps 119:9 -
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to thy word.

Psalms 16:11 "You will show me the path to life, abounding joy in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever. "

Is this it?

If thou wilt hear the voice of the Lord thy God, to do and keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, the Lord thy God will make thee higher than all the nations that are on the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon thee and overtake thee, if thou hear his precepts.

Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the droves of thy herds, and the folds of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy barns and blessed thy stores. Blessed shalt thou be coming in and going out.

The Lord shall cause thy enemies that rise up against thee to fall down before thy face; one way shall they come out against thee, and seven ways shall they thee before thee. The Lord will send forth a blessing upon thy storehouses, and upon all the works of thy hands, and will bless thee in the land that thou shalt receive.

The Lord will raise thee up to be a holy people to himself, as he swore to thee, if thou keep the commandments of the Lord thy God and walk in his ways. And all the people of the earth shall see that the name of the Lord is invoked upon thee, and they shall fear thee.

The Lord will make thee abound with all goods, with the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy cattle, with the fruit of thy land which the Lord swore to thy fathers that he would give thee. The Lord will open his excellent treasure, the heaven, that it may give rain in due season; and he will bless all the works of thy hands." (Deut. 28:1-12).

Hello Eileen,

I think you hit it on the head. To love God with all your heart through obedience to His commandments sums up mankind’s purpose in life.

NAB MAT 22:36 The Great Commandment.

“Teacher, which commandment of the law is the greatest?” Jesus said to him:

“‘You shall love the Lord your God
with our whole heart,
with your whole soul,
and with all your mind.’
This is the greatest and first commandment. The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments the whole law is based, and the prophets as well.”

thank you so much! I really love all of those!

I found this one that kind of hit me, tell me what you think:

Hebrews 11:1
“Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.”
It’s not really what I was looking for, but I like it

And playing on that one, I could use the quote from St. Augustine that’s basically the same but a little more poetic:
“Faith is to believe what you do not yet see; the reward for this faith is to see what you believe.”

There are many many good, inspiring quotes. Here are just a couple that I like. Thanks…

2 Chron 16:9
9 "For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.

Jer 29:11-13
11 "For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, "plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
12 "Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
13 "You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

1Tim.4

12
] Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in** faith**, in purity.

1Tim.6

12
] Fight the good fight of the** faith**; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

2Tim.2

22
] So shun youthful passions and aim at righteousness,** faith**, love, and peace, along with those who call upon the Lord from a pure heart.

Ps.25

10
] All the paths of the LORD are steadfast love and** faith**fulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

Prov.3

1
] My son, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments;
2] for length of days and years of life
and abundant welfare will they give you.
3] Let not loyalty and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them about your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.
4] So you will find favor and good repute
in the sight of God and man.

Kid: How about Joshua 1:9? Gives some instruction to you and gives you the assurance that God will always be with you!
I used this as my confirmation verse, and what’s really cool is that my oldest daughter chose it for her first communion verse. (yes, some Lutheran churches do celebrate first communion.)

Hope you find the perfect verse!

Blessings!

For the “Tim - the tool man” that resides in each of us real men.

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.”

I like the image

Personally I like this from Saint Paul: I do not cease to pray “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power in us who believe, according to the working his great might which he accomplished in Christ when he raised him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come; and he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.”*Ephesians 1:16-23).
One of the things that surprises me out this passage, by the way, is that it is all one sentence.
