Hi everyone. I am looking in to possibly joining a third order. However, I would like to join one that is involved in evangelization as I have always felt called to evangelize the non-Catholic community. What are your suggestions?

I am no expert on this topic but… The Legionaries of Christ has a mission of evangelization. I know they have lay movements though I am not sure if they are 3rd orders. The Paulists have a 3rd order and their mission is evangelization, especially to fallen-away Catholics.

Francicans…anyone…anyone… I have phone numbers… anyone… 😉

I am a Benedictine Oblate, and as such part of my commitment is helping the Sisters with their primary mission, which is evangelization and pro-life work. look at the sticky on vocations about seculars or lay associates, and investigate those who have branches near you to find out what are their charisms.

Dominicans might be what you’re looking for: their charism is spreading knowledge, most specificaly knowledge of Christ. Learning and studying and teaching and preaching are very much part of the Dominican Spirituality.

Legion of Mary is an evangelistic group - though not a Third Order.

In regards to a third order, I second the Dominicans 😃

The Legion of Mary is also a good suggestion 👍

Ooh now that sounds interesting! Why? Because I am interested in both evangelization and pro-life work! 👍

You know, I was actually a “probationary” member of the Legion of Mary for a while. A probationary member is what they call members who are investigating the Legion of Mary but who have not yet made a formal commitment to it. I enjoyed being a part of the Legion of Mary and may choose to join up again. 🙂
