I’m getting a little desperate, because I tenderly love the Douay-Rheims version, and I need a standard to memorise off of. The internet isn’t enough, since I cannot carry it around with me all the time.

I’ve been looking all over for a Douay-Rheims, but it is so costly!! (I`m a teenager trying to SAVE money, not spend it) and this bible is worth it to me.

In Montreal where I’m staying in Quebec until the 15th, they have two hardcover bibles… but they’re $75. In Vancouver where I live in Surrey, BC, it is a paperback for $50. Online, this is the closest I could find: amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/1556652720/qid=1123611104/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl/701-8807943-6209157

I’m still unsure… what does OE mean?

If there are any other sources in Canada that could lead to a decent, good-priced Douay-Rheims (that can last, being that I would carry it around with me most of the time) for a teen like me, it would help. Thankies, and God bless!

I have heard enough good about the Baronius Press’ Douay that I have ordered one for myself.
You can google Baronius press to see more…
Or you can go to where I ordered mine:
prayrosary.com/shoppingcart

Under Bibles, they have the Baronius, also other editions…Hopefully one of these will be good–they are $50 to $60, for real leather…

You can get a pretty good selection on Ebay. If you search for “Douay”, then click on “Completed Listings” on the left side, you will see what they have sold for recently. Looks like you should be able to get a decent one for US$15-25, plus shipping. That really isn’t any better than your C$37 at Amazon. However, the book quality may be better (leather binding, etc).

One note, I see that the Confraternity edition seems to be one of the more common for sale - this is a 20th Century update of the Douay Bible. When people refer to the Douay, they are usually referring to the Challoner revision, an update from the 1750s.

Go to the “Diocesan Book Room”, a joint Catholic/Anglican enterprise, underneath the Anglican cathedral,in the mall, in downtown Montreal (at St. Catherine St. and Union) for TAN Books Douay Rheims Bible. If they don’t have it, the Bible Society store upstairs will. The mall connects with the McGill Metro (subway) station.

Awesome!! Now I just need to know the hours of it’s opening and closing, and get there before the 15th… Would you happen to know the closing hours? 😃
