Hello, I’m looking for an Eastern Catholic prayer book with prayers before Communion including all the akathists etc. However I don’t know where to look. Is there one that’s been approved by a Catholic Bishop? Thanks 🙂

I use the Publicans Prayer Book, published by Sophia Press, the publishing arm of the Melkite Catholic Eparchy of Newton. It’s got some excellent prayers for communion as well as morning and night prayers and lots of other devotions. It’s got the Akathists and various canons as well. I highly recommend it. It’s worth its weight in gold.

I second this. In addition to these items already mentioned, it is a well-made and beautiful book, which uses a beautiful language in modern English.

Thank you! 🙂 it looks really nice! does the prayer book have these prayers and the prayers in the PDF links at the top of the page? Do Catholics in Eastern rites say them too? orthodoxprayer.org/Communion_Prayers.html I’m asking because I haven’t found a link to these prayers from a Catholic site yet… Including the Orthodox one as an example of what I mean

Yes, it does include those prayers. They can also be found in the liturgy pew book for the Ruthenian Church, which is here: mci.archpitt.org/legacy/servicebooks/DivineLiturgies.pdf

I think the prayers before Communion begin on page 11 and the prayers after Communion on page 95. They’re in the table of contents.
