I’ve been wondering what the origins are for such passages as “Sits at the right hand of the Father…” and other Right Hand passages.

What is the significance of the right hand?

Thanks in advance 🙂

The Prince would traditionally sit at the right hand of his father the king. But anyone who had the kings’ confidence and full favor could sit at the right hand and be second in power .

One that comes to mind is this passage which is a type of Jesus and Mary:

2 Kings 2:19 So Bathshe’ba went to King Solomon, to speak to him on behalf of Adoni’jah. And the king rose to meet her, and bowed down to her; then he sat on his throne, and had a seat brought for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right.
