I think this is right forum for this question, though I’m wondering if the community isn’t so broad that it ends up being a needle in a haystack sort of thing.

I live in Ottawa (Canada) and I’m interested in joining an RCIA program; thing is, having been a non-practicing Anglican/some other stuff up till now, I don’t know much about Ottawa’s Catholic community, besides the major/notable local churches (like the Archbishop’s seat or the church which celebrates the Extraordinary Form, which seems interesting but unfortunately doesn’t list RCIA as one of their ministries).

More than the typical mundane variables (travel time and such) I’m looking for some authentic formation and instruction; this board seemed like a good place to ask. Any Capital Catholics out there? 😃

I’m not from Ottawa but I’d suggest you try the Basilica Parish, they have RCIA there and if you can’t get appropriate teaching at the Archdiocese, I’m not sure you’ll find it anywhere else.😉

For anyone reading: Go on the internet and search (Name of City and the words Catholic Diocese).

I found this link for Ottowa
ecclesia-ottawa.org/Archidiocese/index_e.aspx

Choose the desired language, then go to Parish Directory and click on the Parishes closest to your home.
Then you will find the phone numbers of each of the particular parishes in the language you selected. Call them for more info on RCIA, and ask other questions you may have about the Parish.
or
You can just call the Catholic Diocese Chancery Office.
ecclesia-ottawa.org/archidiocese/index_e.aspx?DetailID=134

God bless you on your Journey.
Welcome.

first go by geographic area where you can conveniently attend, then start calling to find out when they are accepting new candidates (it should be year round, but probably won’t be) and when they meet, so you can work with your own schedule. The best RCIA in the city won’t help if you can’t get there. Start attending Mass at the 2 or 3 parishes you narrow it down to and get a feel for the pastor, parish life etc.

welcome home, wish you lived her we’d love to have you

Petyr:

I’m wondering if you’ve found something? I’m moving to Ottawa tomorrow and am looking to join an RCIA group.

Thank you!
