Hey, guys. Not to trouble you with looking really, but if you do know of a Catholic saint who was a king, duke or some other kind of feudal head of state in the 1066-1337 time-frame I’d be grateful. This time-frame and the requirement to be an actual ruler (count or above) is set in stone due to some formal restrictions. Therefore I do need only real, regnant rulers, so consorts, i.e. queens, duchesses, princesses etc. who were wives, daughters and sisters don’t qualify and neither do stewards, chancellors and other high officials, it’s strictly got to be 1066 to 1337 (between Norman conquest and Hundred Years War) and strictly rulers but if a doge from a mediaeval Italian republic happened to be canonised, it would be okay too. Canonised or beatified, I mean. Blessed too, not only “full” saints.
Here are those I already have:
Louis IX of France
David I of Scotland
Ladislaus I (Laszlo) of Hungary
Canute IV of Denmark
Charles the Good, Count of Flanders
Eric IX of Sweden (canonisation/cult somewhat controversial)
Canute Lavard, Duke of Schleswig, Danish prince
Magnus Erlendsson of Orkney, iarl
Ragnvald Kolsson of Orkney, iarl
Ferdinand III of Castille
Louis IV of Thuringia, margrave
Humbert III of Savoy, count
Leopold III of Austria, margrave
I know there’s a host of Georgian rulers canonised by the Orthodox Church (Demetre I and II, David IV, Tamar, got them covered) and a good number of Russian princes (Alexander Nevsky and some others) and some Serbian or other Balkan Orthodox rulers but I’m primarily sticking with Catholic rulers. (Although Orthodox ones are okay too, if the canonisation isn’t particularly odd or associated with opposing the Pope.)
Thanks!
