Looking to begin reading through the Bible... but I need a Bible first

My plan is thus this: For the time being, I’ll work through the barebones Ignatius Bible, albeit with some study aids (Scott Hahn’s Bible Dictionary looks good, as does Edward Sri’s “The Bible Compass”) and whenever the complete (massive) 1-volume Ignatius Study Bible comes out, I’ll pick up a copy and go into things a little deeper.
Sounds like a good plan. 👍

Follow the advice a very wise priest gave to me: “Get the one that you will actually read.”

I’m loving this:

amazon.com/Truth-Dramatized-Audio-Bible-Testament/dp/1591713250

For $20 you can download the App for iPhones and Droids.

It’s only the New Testament, but it scrolls the Scriptures as the audio plays. Has event background noises (like old time television) and the voices of 8 or 9 professional actors.

I have a set of earbuds and I can listen to it at work, while driving, chores, etc.

I use the RSVCE (Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition). It’s accurate, reads well, used in the Catechism and most of our Great Adventure Bible Study teachers use it. After that I would naturally use the Great Adventure Quick Journey.
