Hi,
I’m Greek Orthodox and my family who is Catholic will be coming to visit me in Los Angeles for Christmas. I am trying to make plans of where to take them for Midnight Mass. When I go visit my family in Miami for Christmas we go to a great church that has almost an hour of Christmas carols before Midnight Mass. I would like to find something similar in Los Angeles to take them to when they visit me this year. Does anybody know of any churches that have carols before or after Midnight Mass in the Los Angeles area?

Thank you,
Erik

Well “Los Angeles area” is a bit too broad. What part of LA?

Los Angeles is huge so you’ll need to narrow down the area. Also, how far are you willing to drive?

Thank you for your quick replies. I live by the Farmers Market (3rd and Fairfax) and we would be willing to drive 10-15 miles for a nice Christmas mass that also includes some carols.

Thank you,
Erik

Blessed Sacrament in Hollywood is a beautiful church. You can call and ask them about their Christmas program and times, whether they will have caroling, etc.

I also like St Charles Borromeo, which is in Sherman Oaks/Studio City.

Funny that you mention Blessed Sacrament. My spiritual director is there and since I saw him today I was asking about their midnight Mass. First, it’s actually at midnight. And he said they do a half hour or more of caroling. You might want to call them to verify but it may be a possibility for you.

Thank you for the suggestions! We will likely go to Blessed Sacrament. Really appreciate the suggestions.

Thank you for checking with your spiritual director! I will contact Blessed Sacrament closer to Christmas Eve to confirm their schedule. Really appreciate your suggestion.
