Lost Sequences/Rose for Advent

I figured I would ask two questions here. Here I go.

In studying the Sarum Rite, I read they still had many sequences for various feasts. The video of Candlemas on Youtube in the Sarum Rite had a commentary (not on Youtube) that Candlemas still had a sequence in the Sarum Rite. Are there any remaining texts or scores of sequences the Church surpressed? Why did Pius V abolish these sequences?

Randomly and unrelated, someone here once mentioned that Pius- either X or XI or XII- wanted to make rose the liturgical color of Advent but changed his mind/ was pursuaded not to. Does anybody know more about this or is it not true?
 
Other uses of the Roman Rite had lots of sequences, too.

My understanding is that there were so many sequences and such a great variety–just about every province and country had their own peculiar ones–that they threatened to totally overload the Liturgy, and so all but a few were suppressed in the Tridentine Missal.
 
Thank you, Cluny. That is a good response. Are there any sequences left that we have words or scores too?

Also, is there anyone who knows anything about the claim of Advent I mentioned? Someone here mentioned it once. I’ll see if I can find the thread.

There is one we used to sing at Paschaltied when I was an Episcopalian–the Alleluyatic Sequence. It began, “The chant upraise of joy and praise, Alleluia…” and I can’t think of the rest of it.

Another Christmastide sequence ethat made its way into hymnals, “Let our gladness know no end…”

I understand that the Sarum rite had proper Sequences for almost every Sunday of the year.

Somewhere amongst my goodies I have one for the feasts of St. Benedict (“Joy our Father’s feast/rest has taught us…”), but I’m not up to copying it here.
 
The missal of St. Pius V contained five sequences, all of which may be viewed in a Tridentine missal:

Victimae Pachali (Easter Day & Octave)
Veni, Sancte Spiritus (Pentecost & Octave)
Lauda Sion (Corpus Christi)
Stabat Mater (Seven Sorrows of BVM)
Dies Irae (Requiem Masses)
