LOTH Confusion HELP PLEASE!

Since yesterday, the 15th August was The feast of the Assumption, I prayed evening prayer II of the Assumption. This made sense to me. But now I don’t know what to pray this evenng since we had mass for the Assumption today aswell. Maybe I made the mistake and shouldve prayed EPI last night but since yesterday was the actual feast date i went ahead and prayed EPII. In all fairness I prayed it before yesterdays vigil mass and wasnt expecting our parish to have a mass for the Assumption. What would you do tonight??

I think that you should have said EP 1 for the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time last night rather than EP 2 for Assumption. I’m fairly sure that the Sunday Solemnity takes priority over the Assumption, so EP 1 takes priority over EP 2. I’m still fairly new to all of this myself, but that was my understanding. Regardless, it’s EP 2 for Sunday tonight.

so, ideally, i should have prayed the evening prayer I for the assmption on the friday (the 14th), then just used the Evening Prayer I last night since the sunday takes preference over other solemnities??

Whilst I’m at it, can anyone help me with another question: I know there are several Marian Antiphons which are sung after Night Prayer. My question is, which Antiphon corresponds to each particular church season?

Saturday 15-Aug Morning & Daytime | Saturday XIX of Ordinary Time
Saturday 15-Aug Evening | Assumption EP I
Sunday 16-Aug Morning, Daytime, Evening | Assumption (EP II)

The St Joseph Guide for the LOTH for the Solemnity of the Assumption said that on Friday evening EP I (of Assumption) was to be prayed and on the 15th all hours (including EPII and Night Prayer following EP II for Sundays and Solemnities which means it is for the Assumption. It always tells you on the Saturday if the EP I of Sunday should be prayed and it did not on Saturday. It said ALL prayers for the Assumption were to be prayed

Yes, that would be correct for the Solemnity of the Assumption falling on Sat 15-Aug.

But the OP is in England, where the calendar is different. While in the US, the obligation to attend Mass is abrogated by the Solemnity falling on Saturday, in England, the Solemnity itself is translated to Sun 16-Aug.

That is why the OP should pray the hours differently. The St Joseph Guide is not written to the calendar for England and Wales.
