My question here is Can lustful thoughts in dreams be sinful. So a good example I guess would be “Wet dreams” otherwise known as “Nocturnal emissions” . I know the usual you wake up with a very non-vivid memory of a lustful moment in your dream and you have a wet dream than it is not sinful, but lets say for this case you vividly remember the dream, exactly what happened in the dream and that in the dream it seems like you knew what you were doing in the dream, but of course you really didn’t but it felt like you did, and then in the dream you proceeded to do the immoral act and then you wake up and you feel guilty, like the dream was too real to be not sinful? Would a dream like this be sinful? or are all acts of sins when in a sleepy state not sinful? Just wondering on everyone’s opinion on this, thanks.

To sum up the question, If a dream feels very real and you commit sinful actions in those dreams(such as fornication) and after you feel somewhat guilty of the dream will it be deemed sinful(even to the point of being mortal sin)?

I am asking this because dreams like this haven’t happened to me every since I converted to my Catholicism and was baptized about 2 months ago.

Nothing that happens in a dream can be sinful. You have no intent to do anything while dreaming.

God Bless

If there was no consent, then it’s not sinful. The guilt you’re feeling may be Satan’s attempt to get you to ponder the details of the dream in your head over and over again (which would be a bad idea). Just offer the dream and the guilt up to God and get on with your day in peace! 🙂

Lucid dreaming entails at least some self-awareness, but there is more to “consent of the will” than just being self-aware. It implies full control of your rational faculties, full awareness of your actions and their potential consequences, full cognizance of what is at stake; these things are impaired in sleep, even if you know at the time you’re asleep. So you are probably off the hook.

Not sinful but if you lay in bed for an hour thinking about this dream to much it can lead to other stuff.

Are you constantly thinking about sex?

When I used to think about sex a lot I always dreamt of it.

After we had our twins my wife would always dream of them because that was all she thought about during the day.

Don’t worry.

The weird thing is I dont, I never think about it really, and before I went to bed I read my bible and then watched a debate on sola-scriptura lol, its not like I was seeing sexual images before I went to bed.

I am like that too. I don’t have any thoughts of such things but then I dream about it anyway. Because we don’t have our full will nor full control in our dreams, then, as said above, it probably isn’t a sin.

God Bless

As soon as you realize you have had a " dream " put it out of your mind. Get up immediately and get busy with your morning routine. Say a quick Hail Mary or two, get your mind on something else.

Try to purify your day by avoiding anything which will cause you to think about " forbidden " things.
Be sober and keep your diet moderate. Avoid drinking, etc.
Keep your prayer life steady.
Try to go to sleep saying the Rosary

👍

You haven’t “committed” anything in a dream…it’s not real. 😃 In order for it to be a sin, you have to actually commit the act in real life (along with having full knowledge and intention to act). What if I was in a play where my character murders another character…have I sinned? Of course, not. Dreams are even less real than that, so don’t worry about this. What you’ve experienced is temptation, not sin.

I thought it’s a sin because having sex with another girl is wrong ! Sometimes I can control dreams ! I can fly in some dreams too. When I pray to God & Sleep recently I saw a scary then a lustful dream…at last I got caught to lust ! I felt really sad because I lost the battle !
When I pray “Our father in Heaven or other prayers” in the dream the evil forces shake me more & more. I thought God can help even in Dreams…Sad.
