Lust question...kissing, cuddling

Do lustful thoughts have to do with sexual experiences only? For instance, today I found my mind wandering to memories of kissing a girl, smelling her hair (weird, I know), and a memory of sitting on the edge of the bed and a girl putting her arm over me to come back to bed. The thoughts about kissing I try to not have, but when I found myself in the memory of smelling someone’s hair I was thinking, “I don’t think this counts as sexual I’m sure.” Then I’m like, “would you enjoy the same smell if it were on a tree?” So I’m worried I was lusting. I also am worried I lusted because the “come back to bed” gesture would have led to sexual thoughts but i changed my focus.

I did search the forum but found no answer that seemed specific to my issue.
 
Seems like you responded appropriately to the temptation for lust, but it would be good to discuss it with a priest. A temptation isn’t a sin, but can lead to sin if acted upon. You stopped yourself from acting upon it (you didn’t dwell on the “invitation” from the girl, despite probably wanting to).
 
You handled it well dude. And no it’s not weird to have those thoughts , especially when it’s strong memories like that. They can be very powerful. Important thing is you recognized the thought and diffused it. Mention it to Priest to be on safe side but sounds like you handled it well
