If a thought just pops into your head withoutyou deliberately wanting it to, and you don’t act on it, as in, keep thinking about it, but try to put it out your mind, is this mortal sin? Or is it just when you act on it and keep the thoughts going out of your own choice?

Matt

You cannot sin against your will. Something that just pops into your head, but that is not entertained would not be a sin. Recognize, discard it, thank God for your sexuality and ask Him to continue to grace you with the fortitude to resist those temptations.

the poster above me is right. you can not sin ‘by accident’. you must will these thoughts to come into your mind and continue to entertain them once you have recognised them.

one Hail Mary with devotion should be said when these thoughts pop into your head.

…and if that does not work, say the nicene creed. by the time you finish that, you will have forgotten what the impure thought was 🙂

If that were a mortal sin, I would need a live-in priest…😃
