I haven’t posted on that forum very much these days. I tend to concentrate on specific forums one at at time. However, when I give this forum a rest, I will be heading over there, maybe in September.
If catholics start threads about how there are many ways mormonism can be proving wrong or mormonism is obviously fabricated I tend to defend the lds church on this catholic forum site. Now if I see such titles about the catholic church on MADb, I would certainly chime in. I have a good relationship with the catholic posters who post there. If there were such titles I would defend the catholic church. I have said great things about the catholic church on the MADb when I needed to.
Also, the moderation on that board is hands on. No one, I believe would get away with mocking and bashing the catholic church or any catholic poster on that site. In fact, the last time I was there a mormon poster was threatened with a suspension or a ban if he continued to do so. And his post would be considered tame by what is posted on the mormon threads here.
No one is stopping you from defending the catholic church on the mormon board. You will just need to tone down the sarcasm and show respect in your posts toward other posters be they catholic or mormon or you will be banned. Good luck!
Have you noticed I am not the debater of lds doctrine here? I don’t get myself into scrapes about doctrine at all. It is not my glass of milk. Parker and Diana do that. I do however bring up the witnesses to the book of mormon and other historical subjects when I feel I need to.

You will not see it because that so called Catholic doesn’t defend the Catholic Church. And because he has already said he won’t, by the time he moseys over there the thread will be dead and he will have avoided having put himself in the uncomfortable position of Catholic defender among LDS. His only defense of Catholicism over there has been at best limp and is usually the same backhanded compliment he employs here, though it has a more obsequious tone to it.
Glancing at the other board I see he’s run off to read it, we’ll see.

I didn’t see the thread. I have not been on that site for awhile. But now that you and my good friend Religio have brought it to my attention, I have responded with many posts. And if I would have seen it, I would have responded immediately. There is nothing to stop you from going there and defending the Catholic Church. Also, the software they use is not as good as CAF’s, or it hasn’t been set up properly, and the religion of the posters are not displayed (or requested). Most of the time I don’t know if the person posting is LDS or smething else. I don’t know if the persons criticising the Catholic Church out there are actually Mormons or not.

I have no sympathy for the why me claim of being “Catholic/LDS”. I don’t consider him to be Catholic or Mormon. However, having made over a thousand posts at the above named LDS board, and having seen why me in many different threads, I defend the accused. He is not going to defend the Catholic Church as we would. But he is consistent in the way he defends one and then the other. I could believe he is confused. But I don’t believe for one second that he is a liar with ill will towards us. I think that there are individuals over there who have contempt and disdain for the true faith while claiming to have respect for us. But I won’t name a name.
Attacking individuals that are wrong is no way to convert them or others to the truth. Much less it is effective to wrongfully accuse those who are sympathetic to us of being unsympathetic. Let’s work with what we have. I doubt if he is even in a state of grace. Let’s be good to him and nurture the good nature that we find. C’mon people. Use common Catholic sense.

What craziness!
That Atticus Finch guy was pooping all over the Mormons two months ago. I thought he would get kicked. Instead, he says he starts a thread saying he is ready to leave the Catholic Church. What do you think we would say if a Mormon came over here and started crying about the LDS Church? I think we would be justified in encouraging him to leave the LDS Church, and they have an opportunity to do the same in reverse. It is a Catholic who started the anti-Catholic thread, and the Mormons aren’t taking the bait.
Okay, I’ve read two pages and the Mormons are still defending the Catholic Church to the guy who says he is Catholic. And he was two months ago, decidedly so as it appeared to me. As nutty as it may seem, he is apparently among those people who are making decisions because of what they read on these boards peopled by dorks like us. What a terrible idea.
Well, there is why me on page three standing up for the Catholic Church with all the Mormons including one who I said has contempt for the Catholic Church who is also supporting the Catholic Church.
dianaiad has one post now at that board, in support of the Catholic Church. Her fellow mormons probably thinks she is Catholic.
I skipped to the last page. From what I saw, why me joined in with the other Mormons in defense of the Catholic Church on this one issue.

It is all very weird. I browsed Atticus’ posts, and it seems like a complete 180. I don’t think he knows what he wants. His logic is very out there too. When he pulls out his masters in canon law, then I’ll listen.

I feel close to both faiths because both have played a major role in my life. I can’t say that I am confused but I do find myself in this situation with mormon children who do support my attendance at the catholic church. My mother who was catholic used to bring them to Mass when they were little and my exwife and I did not mind at all. So they have experience with catholicism. And my daughter who is now on her mormon mission in a catholic country sent me a nice rosary. Her missionary companion helped her to pick it out. But yes, it is not easy being in the middle of two faiths.
But this forum has been very judgemental and I can understand why. It is an apologetic forum and many actually believed that they were somehow defending the catholic faith by attacking me and my posts regardless if my posts were procatholic.

I think that it is good to see the human being in people. Sometimes we get lost with the faceless posts and forget that there is someone with flesh and blood posting. We all have moments in our life, Now it is his moment. In the end, charity and empathy is the way to go. With a mixture of human understanding.It is all very weird. This was apparent to me on another mormon forum when suddenly I could hear the voices of posters, that I have been posting with, on various podcasts. To hear a voice brings out the human in the posts that I now read and respond to when I am on that forum.
