My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.

Given Mary’s immaculate conception and her sinless life, what did Mary have in mind when she made reference to her low estate. If her estate was low, how deep a hole are we in?

Good observation. Mary was schooled in the Old Testament. This prayer is similiar to the “Canticle of Anna.” This is found in 1Kings Chapter 2: 1-10, I believe. Reviewing this chapter might give us a clue.
