I was walking into wal mart last night and this car pulls up letting several people out of the car. They looked like they were from India or somewhere like that, so I assumed they were Hindu. There was a bumper sticker on the car that said “Mary had a little lamb, and I ate him”.

Am I missing something here? Please tell me they aren’t talking about Jesus! Please!

I am quite sure they are mocking the nursery rhyme.

it sounds like the eucharist to me. 👍

It sounds to me like it’s mocking the Eucharist. Or at least mocking Christianity altogether.

UGH! It makes me sick to my stomach! Can you just imagine the uproar if I put a bumper sticker on my car mocking something sacred to Hindus?

how do you know they weren’t catholic and the bumper sticker was simply referring to the eucharist? people have different colored skin in God’s true church. they also have different senses of humor and what is offensive to one is funny (or maybe even poignant) to another.

Oh yeah, it’s the bumper sticker conspiracy against christians…

No wonder we all can’t get along, everyone assumes that everyone else is out to get them…if there was a real threat that’s one thing, but to guess what someone else is thinking…well, that requires true paranoia and a need to be persecuted.

Actually I found a site marketing this bumber sticker…and considering some of the other stickers there I believe it would be fair to say that this is distasteful…

Amoung the “Mary had a little lamb” bumperstickier there was also a:

“Keep your rosaries out of my ovaries”

“Judging by the pictures hell looks more intresting that that other place”

“Baptism: Guilt at the first splash”

There were multiple stickers which showed a loving affection for Satan…

Link is here…my advice…don’t go, but if you must…

Bumper Stickers

It’s OT but probably the best bumper sticker I’ve seen is this one, Most likely a Dr. Who fan:

TARDIS EXPRESS

When It Absolutely, Positively, Has To Be There
BEFORE You Mailed It!!

:rotfl::rotfl:

What I find kind of ironic is that the bumper sticker is supposed to somehow be a slam against Christianity, and it just tells the truth. Mary did have the Lamb of God, and I partake of His body, soul, and divinity every time I take communion.

Who said anything about not getting along or about a conspiracy? I was simply asking other Catholics here if I was “getting” the point of that bumper sticker because it happened to be very offensive to me. My point was that I’d be jumped all over by the pc police if I stuck a bumper sticker on my car that was offensive to Hindus, muslims, or jews. I don’t know what religion they are, I was guessing.

Well, I guess that it could be taken in many ways. It could be micking the nursery rhyme. I could be mocking Christianity (but I don’t think it did a very good job of it if that was the intent). It could also have been a mockery of animal rights groups (such as PETA) who protest eating meat.

I don’t think that this one is very clear. I went to the site briefly, and it seemed to be a new age site. Bits and peices of anything that could be considered spiritual. (good or bad).

It would be interesting to know what exactly was meant by it, either by the maker of the sticker, or the people who put it on their car.

I saw one the other day, the gist of which was, “Don’t make the same mistake as your parents…Use Contraception.” There seemed to be little swimming sperm in a border around it.

I puzzled about that for a bit. Is it really trying to say that the person behind them in the next car is waste/mistake that they wish weren’t there? The only other sticker on the car was straightforeward…some Army sticker, with the newish slogan an army of one.

But then I got to thinking…are the slogans related?
