Whooo! Happy morning everyone! (Or evening, if youā€™re in another part of the world)

I DID IT.
I FINALLY MADE THE CALL! Cheers

Iā€™m a little nervous as to how it went though! (O__O) The office lady did not seem very happy, and there was a little bit of anā€¦edge, to her toneā€¦? It may be that she thought I was a prank-caller at firstā€¦(?) I have kind of a high voice (I think I sound like minnie-mouse on helium) (>__<)

Iā€™m sure she meant well though! She mentioned that there was some kind of delivery going on, and so she might have been having a stressful day. I need to keep that in mind!

Though she did also say, ā€œWe donā€™t usuallyā€¦get such young callers when it comes to the RCIA.ā€
ā€¦?

Not sure what she meant by that, but again, she may think Iā€™m a teen instead of a squeaky twenty-two year old! šŸ˜€

And then. when I said, ā€œWell, Iā€™ve actually already talked with Father Seanā€ (For any who donā€™t know, before the new website look, I had a post which mentioned my meeting with one of the priests, for spiritual guidance- this was actually my introduction to the world of all things Catholic!)

Her reply was kindaā€¦cold, ā€œHe prefers to be called Fr. (His last name).ā€

Iā€¦well, I didnā€™t tell her that he had told me to use his first nameā€¦ šŸ˜– I truly didnā€™t mean to sound disrespectful!

But, whelp! Iā€™m still happy that I called- she said sheā€™d let him know I did so. (^__^)

ā¤ļø Iā€™m really grateful for all the advice Iā€™ve been given here, all the kindness and wisdom. This truly is a wonderful community~

The way that hurt me and my peers in other parishes, well, it still is a bruise. We work for low pay, long hours and are the front line for every person who is angry or frustrated, we have to be the ā€œbad guyā€ so Father can be the ā€œgood guyā€.

ā¤ļø Well, I dunno a lot of parish secretaries, but I know youā€™re wonderful, and Iā€™m sure Pope Francis didnā€™t mean all secretaries- just a few that unfortunately give others a bad name- :hugs: Hugs
As a coffee-shop employee myself, Iā€™ve heard the same thing ā€˜all who work in Service are rude and meanā€™.

Welcome home!! I hope you enjoy the RCIA processā€¦Iā€™ve been on the parish RCIA team since '95, and I always look forward to the start of another year.
[Our parish is lucky enough to have a terrific secretaryā€¦sheā€™s very involved in the activities of her two high-school-age daughters, and her enthusiasm carries over to her job.]

Good for you for making that phone call, @CheerfulTabby22! šŸ™‚

I wish you all of the best going forward, on your journey of faith! šŸ™‚

It sounds extremely hectic! I can only imagine all the hard work that goes behind the scenes to keep a parish up and running. It sounds very rewarding, but also very stressful and probably at times, exhausting! šŸ’– God bless those who do this work!

I made sure to thank her for her help, telling her I was awfully impressed with all the good things Iā€™ve heard about the parish, its people and everything they do. šŸ™‚
Iā€™ll say a prayer for her~

Bless you for your incredible work in the church! It sounds utterly, incredibly demanding. šŸ˜³ Those who do things like that are incredibly important to the Churchā€™s well-being, I feel, and without the hard work of those who do those things, there is no way that the Church service would run smoothly!

You are just the kindest person - and your picture shines with joy!

So glad to hear you made the call! You took the hardest step, and now itā€™s done! I wish you enlightenment and blessings. šŸ˜Š
