Hey guys just wanted to share this link. The Malankara Churches, just like other churches of the St. Thomas Christians have very exciting church festivals with live instruments, grand processions, and beautiful music. The songs that accompany the processions are often songs expressing the lives of saints and martyrs. In particular the Malankara Church maintains this extremely beautiful procession song known as “Swargarajye Simhasanmeri”. The song expounds upon and glorifies the life of Christ and various saints. I think the song itself dates to the 19th century but it truly captures the festival culture of the Kerala Syrian Christians.

Rasa for them is the procession while for us Raza is the highest form of the Qurbana right?

I think they’re using the term Raza in the same sense. This procession might be apart of their Raza Qurbono. I wish the Syro Malabar Church had maintained our authentic musical style. Our festival songs sadly sound like Malayalam film songs. It’s great to see that’s there’s a comeback of course with the Syriac revival going on.
