Special thanks to DustinsDad for pointing this out, but I wanted to let everyone know that there is a radio show on Catholic Answers Live called “Manhood and the Liturgy” which is excellent and much needed (and is now ready for download).

If you go to this link:

catholic.com/radio/calendar.php

and find your way to March 26, 2008 and click on “Manhood and the Liturgy” you can download or stream it for free.

I just finished listening to the podcast and I have to say that Anthony Esolen makes some very valid points. I would have to agree with him however that the layman is quite powerless to correct the abuses that are prevalent in the American RC church.
My stomach churned through quite a bit of the show reflecting on all the abuses that have been occurring at various masses which I have attended in the past 40 years.
I talked with a good friend of mine, a nun, that indicated that she believed that it was each of our duty to be priests. I don’t understand the formation nor the theology that would lead many of us to believe that God “got it wrong” when he made us a particular sex. I’m a man and I wasn’t called to be a priest. Why are some women insistent? Why do we have those in the church that insist on “living to MY potential” regardless of what sex God made them? Why are we afraid to pray and ask of God what we He intended for us, as we are? We can’t or won’t accept NO as an answer? In America I guess we call that weakness. Being an ex-military man, I guess I understand that strength is not only giving orders that are unpopular but TAKING them as well. Something that took a great while to absorb.
Why do we have priests that are afraid to “offend” anyone? We won’t talk of sin, gender, authority, … and the list goes on.
Men take a look between your legs and “check the tackle”.
Lead your families, teach your sons and take your rightful place. It’s OK! Say something that someone may actually disagree with. That’s called COURAGE.
May God give you strength and wisdom and may the Spirit lead you on a NEW journey.
