I have a question that has been bugging me for a bit. Is manifestation ungodly and therefore, a sin?

The main place I keep seeing all these manifestation videos is on TikTok. Many people are saying that through the 3,6,9 method they manifested and got what they wanted. Others suggest other methods such as 33x3 and many more.

It’s becoming so popular and sometimes I feel like trying it (I haven’t yet), but of course I don’t want to do something that turns out to be ungodly.

Manifestation, when used to refer to just writing down what you want to achieve and focusing on that goal, is just a positive thinking technique, used by lots of therapists and motivational trainers.

Some people take it farther and attach occult garbage to it, or believe they can write down a person’s name and have that person attracted to them. That’s when it gets dangerous.

I really wouldn’t bother with a bunch of people discussing manifestation on TikTok. If you want to read a positive thinking/ goal oriented book try something like “Feeling Good” by Dr David Burns, or Dale Carnegie. They leave the new age trash out.

So, say that you used Manifestation as you mentioned, as positive thinking exercise as way to plan out our desires and our days with intentions based on those desires and what life might look like if those desires were achieved, like in the Planner Perfect method, is okay to use?

First of all, I don’t call it “Manifestation”. That sounds creepy and silly. I call it “Goal setting” and it is a way of reminding me of my goals.
It is a visualization exercise, it’s meant to remind yourself of your goals. It’s nothing magic.

Second of all, yes it’s fine to write down what you want in life in a notebook or whatever, but I wouldn’t spend more than like 15 minutes a day doing it. I’d also be sure to then pray and ask God to help me achieve these goals if it be his will, and I would make sure I take steps to achieve the goal. Like if my goal is to win a track competition, I would train every day. If my goal is to meet a boyfriend then I would put myself in a situation every day where I could meet some nice guys, even if it was just going to Mass or to the supermarket, and being outgoing.

I gotta agree here. Manifestation echoes some occultish manifestation of something we really dont want to see or know about.

That is what I was expecting when I opened this thread.
