I was speaking with one of our Deacons today and he suggested that I get this prayer book.

Do many lay people use this book? Do many lay people pray The Divine Office?

I am having some problems with staying focused throughout the day.

The Divine Office, also called Liturgy of the Hours was most often prayed by priests, brothers, sisters. This isn’t so much the case anymore. There are many lay people who also pray the Divine Office. It is a good prayer to do because there are several hours spanning throughout the day. Religious usually do all 7 hours, while Diocesan will do 5 usually. If nothing else do morning and evening prayer. It will get you in a good habit of making sure you pray at least twice a day if not more. Night prayer is also a very good hour to do because it is a good closure of the day asking for Jesus’ protection throughout the night. Do what you can.

Thank You Matthew. You explained that very well. I am looking forward to doing this. I pray a lot right now but it is so inconsistant and it is not enough. Never enough.

Thanks
