Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Today we begin our final week of the 33 day journey toward Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary. In his treatise on True Devotion, St. Louis de Montfort wrote:
  1. During the third week they should seek to understand Jesus Christ better. They may read and meditate on what we have already said about him. They may say the prayer of St. Augustine which they will find at the beginning of the second part of this book. Again with St. Augustine, they may pray repeatedly, “Lord, that I may know you,” or “Lord, that I may see.” As during the previous week, they should recite the Litany of the Holy Spirit and the Ave Maris Stella, adding every day the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus.
Please notice, St. Louis wrote “may read and meditate” or “may say the prayer of St. Augustine”, but they should pray the Litany pf the Holy Spirit, and the Ave Maris Stella, and add the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus.

This is important because in seeking to understand Jesus better, we need to rely on the Holy Spirit to reveal Him to us. We need so much the powerful intercession of our Mother Mary and we need to ponder with her the Litany of Her Son’s Holy Name, Jesus.

Thank you for posting these.
Due to a family situation I have not been able to keep up with my 33 day plan. I will play catchup later, but the meditations used by the group I am following have not been useful this time around.

I will likely try to do the 33 days over again at the end and use your meditations. Thank you again.

Dear Tis_Bearself,

Thanks for your reply, I’ll keep you and your family situation in my prayers. I’ve tried to stay close to St. Louis De Montfort’s words in in treatise on True Devotion, and follow his preparation closely. Each 33 Day Journey is a new and grace-filled experience for me.

Today’s Gospel is a perfect one for beginning this final week - seeking to know Jesus better. In John 12 we hear Jesus say:
"The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies,
it remains just a grain of wheat;
but if it dies, it produces much fruit.
Whoever loves his life loses it,
and whoever hates his life in this world
will preserve it for eternal life.
Whoever serves me must follow me,
and where I am, there also will my servant be.
The Father will honor whoever serves me.

“I am troubled now. Yet what should I say?
‘Father, save me from this hour’?
But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour.
Father, glorify your name.”
His words reveal His Heart of Love ready to be poured out to glorify the Father and to give His Life for us! The second reading from Hebrews also helps us to ponder and by God’s Grace come to understand Jesus better. May each day find us closer to Jesus through Mary by the power of His Holy Spirit.
