Dear Brothers and Sisters,

St. Louis de Montfort, by God’s Grace has written the beautiful 33 Day journey we’ve begun, prayerfully. We do not really “end” our efforts to “empty ourselves of the sprit if the world which is opposed to the spirit of Jesus”, for it is our life-long struggle.

Today, we are ending only one part of the journey which has been preparing us for Week 1 which begins tomorrow, God willing. It is easier to look at the spirit of the world because it is so obviously opposed to the spirit of Jesus, while in Week 1, St. Louis bids us to seek a true knowledge of “self” which can be harder. Who but God can fathom the depth of the human heart? We are rarely a good judge in our own case.

So we depend on God’s help by the power of HIs Holy Spirit and the intercession of Mary our Mother. Today, let us be content with looking at the spirit of the world and strengthening our resolve to do all we can to empty ourselves of the sprit of the world we can see, in order not to oppose the Spirit of Jesus. How?

First and foremost – let us pray as Jesus taught us to pray – which is the Gospel for today: Mt. 6: 7-15
By God’s Grace let us pray the words slowly, with attention and devotion, and as Mary did, ponder all in our hearts. Let us also remember these words from St. Louis de Montfort’s “True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin”:
224. Our Blessed Lady, in her immense love for us, is eager to receive into her virginal hands the gift of our actions, imparting to them a marvelous beauty and splendour, and presenting them herself to Jesus most willingly. More glory is given to our Lord in this way than when we make our offering with our own guilty hands.

III. On the Blessed Virgin and the Church
  1. There is but one Mediator as we know from the words of the apostle, “for there is one God and one mediator of God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a redemption for all”.(298) The maternal duty of Mary toward men in no wise obscures or diminishes this unique mediation of Christ, but rather shows His power. For all the salvific influence of the Blessed Virgin on men originates, not from some inner necessity, but from the divine pleasure. It flows forth from the superabundance of the merits of Christ, rests on His mediation, depends entirely on it and draws all its power from it. In no way does it impede, but rather does it foster the immediate union of the faithful with Christ.

So many people think that “we can go to Jesus through Mary, or we can go directly to Jesus”.

But as Vatican II suggests, Mary is the direct way to go to Jesus!

Thanks, hazcompat, for your posting again from Chapter 8 of “Lumen Gentium”.
It is so important for Catholics and non Catholics alike to understand the depth of the Church’s teaching on the beautiful union between Jesus and Mary. Devotion to Mary in no way impedes but rather fosters the immediate union of the faithful with Christ.
 
Thanks, patricius for your reply and for your reenforcing the words of “Lumen Gentium”. 🙂 Devotion to Mary fosters the immediate union of the faithful with Christ – that is Mary encourages, helps, promotes, nurtures our immediate union Christ.

In His Love for us, Jesus told us from His Cross: “Behold your Mother”. Jesus knows how we need her help. He does not say or do anything without a Divine Purpose! Tomorrow, God willing we’ll begin Week 1 - seeking true self-knowledge. By God’s Grace, St. Louis encourages us to pray to the Holy Spirit AND to our Mother Mary for help.

Yes! We thank God for the Wisdom of the Saints! He continually reveals Mary to them, especially that we may continually learn by His Grace all we need.

Let us give thanks to Him always, for the great Gift of His Mother to be our Mother and Model for the Church! Thanks patricius, for this beautiful quote from Pope St. Pius X:
For can anyone fail to see that there is no surer or more direct road than by Mary for uniting all mankind in Christ and obtaining through Him the perfect adoption of sons, that we may be holy and immaculate in the sight of God?
