Do you pray for Christ’s return? (Second Coming).

If so, why is it taking so long? Do you ever wonder?

It took 2000 years for God to fulfill His promise to Abraham.

What’s your hurry?

:amen: - remember ‘a thousand years are as a single day’ to God.

Hopefully we’ll be seeing him a bit sooner than that anyways 😉 so it’s much more sensible to pray for a good and holy death for ourselves and those around us.

yes, the second coming could be our own death! amen to that.
as i understand it, Revelation can be understood in a number of diff. ways, including the soul’s spiritual journey, which hey, the second coming is near for many people today.
think about that… how many people are going to die today and meet Jesus Christ face to face?
could be any one of us…
pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory!

God Bless, Mary Keep,

Respectfully, this is a symptom of the long delay of Christ. It sounds like you’ve given up on his return as promised. You seem to have substituted death for the Sec. coming. Of course we will all see Him face to face immediately after death. But I want the Just Judge to bring all of hIS FAITHFUL INTO GLORY WITH HIIM AND MORE, i WANT ALL EVIL TO BE CAST OUT FOREVER.

Hi Franciscan 👋

Nope -** I **dont pray for His second coming. Frankly, I struggle with the first one - by trying to constantly live in a state if grace. 😃

The most that I squeeze out, is the prayer in Mass when we say… “waiting in joyful hope, for the coming…”

just wondering…
SHOULD I be praying for the second coming??

No, not that I’ve given up, simply
  1. his second coming will be accompanied by a lot of pain and suffering as well as a lot of good. Jesus himself shrunk from the suffering of his own Passion, in the same way should I shrink at any suffering for any of His beloved (even if prodigal) children.
  2. our own deaths are in all probability nearer at hand and in my opinion something that we can more fruitfully prepare for. I believe in putting my own house in order first and then attending to others. Unless you’re saying that you already have your own house in order (and may we all be so blessed!) then you should probably do the same.

I’m praying daily for it!!! It will be so glorious.

But, I’ve heard that the Bible promises a purification of the Church before the second coming. The Church isn’t looking so purified, so I’m betting we’ve got a while.

Still, I am counting on God to use my eager prayers for the second coming to fulfill the conditions necessary for it.

The last prayer in the Bible is: Come, Lord Jesus. If St. John prayed it, I’ll pray it.

Come, Lord Jesus!!!

Yes, I do. And it’s often a symptom of my own impatience! I think, “If I was running this place, I sure wouldn’t put up with the way the whole world is going down the toilet! The abortions by the millions, the homosexuality, the destruction of marriage and family, the divisions in the church… I’d come back and smite 'em all!”
Of course, thanks be to God that He is more merciful than we could ever be. He is waiting for ‘the fulfillment’ to come, for every last one to believe in Him. And we are to aspire to His patience and mercy. Sigh. I have a looong way to go!
