I wonder what the numbers were. It is great that it was held in Paris. I think of Joan of Arc.Joan of Arc wasn’t canonized until the twentieth century but what a great saint. If people see her as a feminist, then they are missing Joan of Arc.

Have you see the 1999 movie Joan of Arc with LeeLee Socieski. It was good; the only thing I think they needed to clearify is that it wasn’t the French Burgundians who killed Joan but the English who control the French Burgundians. Hollywood usually gives a protestant interpretation of history so this movie was ok in that it atleast showed the north of France was controlled by the English.I wish the schools would teach more about the Hundred Years War.

Margaret Sanger went to France because they had a history with birth control. It is good to see the French take a stand.

apricot yogurt, Thank you for the video. For the benefit of our American friends who may not understand French the following are some of their slogans.

No children = No retirement

No future without children

**Catholics are political orphans. **
Are there any candidates against abortion?

6 million abortions = genocide or not?

350,000 abortions/year in France

30 years of abortion

Catholics are Political Orphans
Are there any candidates against abortion?
Sounds like the US in 1970’s.😦

History…
Paris has a long history. After Charlemagne saved Europe from barbarianism or going back to tribalism, his three sons were not good rulers. Europe was split up into three -France, German and Northern Italy, Holland and Belgium. The Pope was the spiritual leader and Lothair, son of Charlemagne and ruler of Italy, was made the temporal leader of Europe or the Holy Roman Emperor, but he was weak.

A descendant Charles the Fat betrayed the Franks by not sending troops to fight against the Viking invasion but negotiating and giving them Burgundy during the seige of Paris in 866 The Carolingian dynasties (Charlemagne) was dieing out and a new family, the Capetians took over France and lasted until the 16th centrury.

the Capetians took over France and lasted until the 16th centrury.
Actually, the last Capetian was Louis XVI. The Bourbons were a cadet branch of the Capetians. There is an heir, actually, to that line, he just can’t occupy the throne under the French Constitution.

Also, the current King of Spain is a Capetian.

The line was founded by Robert the Strong, who (in case you wonder where he got his name) once broke down the door of an abandoned church (think big oak door) with his bare hands to get at vikings hiding out inside, and carried the door in front of him as a shield. He died shortly thereafter, I think of a heart attack. Either his son or grandson had the nickname “Little Hat”, ‘Capet’.

Nobody, apparently, actually knows where he came from.
