I went last year for the first time and I’m going again this year with my lifeteen group.
Last year, I went on our parish bus, and I stuck with a family who are family friends, as I was the only one in my family there. It was bitter cold, and I was freezing despite being bundled up, and their little kids couldn’t handle it at all, so we wound up leaving the march early and going into the history museum in DC to warm up. I was a little disappointed to not do the whole march, but at that point I was so cold that I was just glad to go warm up. What experiences have you had, if you’ve gone in the past, and/or will you be going this year?

I have gone many times in the past, I won’t be able to this year as my University does not recognize the March as an event and therefore requires its students to be at work, and in class.

In the past I have always found it to be freezing, and normally filled with inclement weather.
I’ve also noticed that while many of the people there are there for the cause, there are also those high schoolers and college students simply there because it’s an event that’s ‘happening’.

Maybe being there will expose them to Christianity and the prolife movement. 🙂
That sucks that you cannot go this year. Maybe next year. 🙂

Anything that promotes pro-life is a good thing, but honestly, with abortion now rampant thru out the country, I kind of feel more is needed than a march, and I also truly feel God would show his acceptance of ANYTHING done to stop the legalized murder.

I find it odd, whenever large protests are scheduled at or near abortion clinics, the cities have armed police out in force to protect the abortion clinics, why would the protest organizers not also have armed persons, seems a bit unfair that only one side can show that level of force.

I dont condone violence but in the case of abortion, I think the bible is clear about how God feels and what followers should do to stop such things, no marches or protests are going to accomplish this, it hasnt in all these years, and its actually gotten worse, so why would now be any different? I think the Vatican and other denominations that also feel its wrong, need to stand up, be brave and fight until its stopped, and quit being so concerned about mans laws, they are not important in comparison to Gods laws.

Be careful here: the end can never justify the means. Do you mean that anything that supports life is good? God will not condone something that is evil, even if it does help protect life. I’m not suggesting that the pro-life movement is doing evils, but rather saying that evil is NEVER acceptable, no matter the good that could come of it.
While I agree that the March for Life, by itself, is not enough, it is not all that it being done. There are many pro-life organizations fighting abortion in many ways. Lifesitenews is getting out the stories that the secular media won’t tell about the abortion business along with the other stories the secular media isn’t covering, and Lila Rose and her organization are infiltrating abortion “clinics” and videoing the employees statements about what really goes on in these “clinics”, and then posting the videos online. Abby Johnson and her organizations ATTWN is reaching out to those who want to leave the abortion business, and they are helping them. There are many others doing other things.
Organizations that help pregnant women and their babies. An organization that puts pro-life messages on billboards. Many others, many of which I haven’t heard of.
Why do you think that violence will help end abortion?
When you fight fire with fire, you get burned.
I realize that more needs to be done, people do need to stand up and say “NO more!”, but realize that many people are doing this. Also, even those who aren’t directly fighting abortion, help in ending it, by spreading the message of Jesus. I don’t mean that everyone is doing this, but that those who do help the pro-life movement indirectly, if not directly.
