I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and love Mardi Gras. Why is it that it isn’t more common elsewhere? It seems to only be from mobile, AL to NewOrleans, LA.
 
Weather conditions maybe? There is snow in a lot of places. Some churches have their own small celebrations though.

I do not know the history of Mardi Gras, but it may be some thing to do with the nationality or area it originally occured in.

Perhaps @(name removed by moderator) can shed some light.

  1. Weather is a big reason why
  2. It’s identified with the French who lived in a certain region. People want Mardi Gras to be in Louisiana just like they want the Rose Parade in Pasadena and the St. Patrick’s Day parades in Boston and NYC.
