I have just ordered the Home Study Course for Marian Catechist , written by John A. Hardon, S.J. It looks like a terrefic program, and while it is not based on Eastern Christian theology, it seems to be a great course for Catholic studies.

Has anyone had experience with this course or the Marian Catechist Apostolate? I would love to hear you thoughts!

By the way, Manor College has an Eastern Catholic Catechist program, that I intend to take when I have the money to enroll. It is costly, but also the only distance course I catechist course I found for Eastern Catholics. Does anyone know of another distance education program for Eastern Catholic Catechists?

For now I think that the Marian Catechist course will serve as a great course for my personal enrichement in catholic theology.

it is indeed a superior catechist formation program, founded in classic Ignatian spirituality. whether or not it meets requirements of Eastern churches I have no idea. it has been discussed in the past on the evangelization and spirituality forums.

since our pastor does not allow us to use the diocesan formation program, Echoes of Faith, we use other resources, including this one, we base our courses on the CCC, as Fr. Hardon does, and we make spirituality esp. Marian spirituality, using his handbook, as the basis for formation. It is a bit rigorous for the average parish, but depends on where the catechist is starting. the core of course is what is missing from many formation programs, the sound spirituality of the catechist.

I am very interested in this home study program. Where do you order it from? And how expensive is it? Thanks.
