After reading “True Devotion to Mary” by Saint Louis de Montfort, as well as “33 Days To Morning Glory”- I am ready to make my formal consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. However, couple questions for those on here who have done this.
  1. Should I recite the consecration prayers in front of anything specific? (statue, icon, tabernacle, etc.)?
  2. Should my priest be there?
  3. I’m getting confirmed and receiving first eucharist this easter vigil. Would it be smart of stupid to make my consecration on that day? What days are recommended?
Thanks for the help.

Why not do it as soon as possible? I think it would be nice to do it before a beautiful statue or image of the Holy Virgin.

I think you said have a nice image or statue in your home as a reminder of Our Lady and your consecration.

I will definitely do that, as well as wear my Miraculous Medal. Regarding the date, I’ve read that it is recommended to do a formal consecration on a Marian Feast Day…so I was just curious to see if it would be appropriate to do it on Easter Vigil (obviously not a Marian Feast Day). Thanks for the response!

Funny you should say that because my consecration fell upon Easter, and I did not even plan it that way. Mary alweays leads us to Jesus. (It was the 33 days to morning glory one.) But you need not put it off until then, or you can do it now and then solemnly on Easter as well. Some renew their consecration daily.

You can do it any time. You don’t even have to do the 33 days, although of course it helps you prepare yourself and makes the occasion more solemn. There are several prayers online you can find that are prayers of dedication to Our Lady, or you can just tell her in your own words. The Blessed Mother will take you seriously no matter what you say if you throw yourself in her arms and strive to remain there every day. There’s no quicker way to grow in the love of God.

It is nice to make your consecration on a Marian feast day. My husband and I made our consecration on the Feast of the Visitation. Subsequently, the outreach work assigned to us by our Pastor turned out to be visiting patients in the local hospital. I truly believe you get particular graces attached to the Feast Day if you choose a special day for your consecration. We have received graces to help us make visits to people who need to get a visit from Jesus and Mary through us. The stories we could tell are countless and the blessings we received are real.

We knelt in front of a statue of the Pieta for our consecration. We each recited it separately. It helps to be somewhere inspiring when you say the consecration prayer.

Very inspiring! I’m now leaning toward doing it on a Marian feast day- thank you for sharing!

I did the consecration years ago.

Among my questions were:
  1. Could I continue praying for myself?
  2. CouldI continue praying for others?
Both for specific intentions.
