Marijuana and christianity?

I couldn’t agree with what roothless said because he feels cannabis is illegal for “ridiculous reasons.”
Actually, if you look at the historic (not popular) reasons for it being illegal, those are ridiculous reasons.
 
I think the reasons why it’s illegal are ridiculous, and that it should be legalized as a matter of both personal freedom and sound public policy. It’s illegal status serves mainly as a price support program for organized crime.

I personally don’t use it (tried it before I was a Christian, didn’t especially like it), but I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong (aside from legal problems of course) with Christians or anyone else using it for medicinal or recreational purposes, so long as they do so in moderation and take care not to be mastered by it… just as with alcohol.

On the other hand if it was legal, it might eventually be an income support (welfare) vehicle for corporations. As it stands now, the legal status of marijuana is a non-competition insurance policy for oil, cotton, forestry, and pharma industry, not to mention the devil incarnate, Monsanto.
