So if we can use alcohol in modernization according to church teachings if pot is legal in Washington state after November is there anything wrong with using it in small amounts of moderation ? ?
If the legislation is for “medical marijuana,” and you have no specific medical need for it, then you will still be breaking the law if you use it to get high with no medical need.So if we can use alcohol in modernization according to church teachings if pot is legal in Washington state after November is there anything wrong with using it in small amounts of moderation ? ?
If that’s the logic you apply to everything you do in life then you have faith most don’t ever attain so please understand that when talking to them to improve your fishing skills.why would you WANT to use it? Would it help your prayer life? Would it help you focus more? If you were with Jesus, would you use it in front of HIM?
I don’t believe it is the Catholic Church’s position that ANY type of intoxication is wrong. Being intoxicated to the point where you lose your sense of reason and cannot distinguish right from wrong is where the sin lies. That and if you get intoxicated every day to the detriment of your health and other aspects of your life. But getting tipsy, singing and laughing louder than normal, feeling the effects of a legal substance that is not doing any permanent damage to your health? If this is wrong, I know a LOT of priests who are in big trouble. Remember, people called Jesus a drunkard- so chances are, He liked to have a few glasses of strong wine and relax with His homies. There is a big difference in the recreational use of Marijuana and Alcohol. One can imbibe various kinds of alcoholic beveridges to enjoy the flavor without getting drunk or even high.
One can smoke tobacco to enjoy its flavor, as one does in smoking a cigar or a pipe. However, no one smokes marijuana for its flavor or aroma, without the expectation of getting high (intoxicated). And, as Catholics, we know that any type of intoxication is wrong.
With respect to the medicinal use of marijuana, one does not injest it to get high. One usually uses it to counteract certain adverse effects of other medications taken for cancer or opthamalic problems. So there is no sin involved.
Apart from legitimate medical usage, there is no licit reason for ingesting “weed” no matter what falacious arguments one can present. You are just kidding yourself by making excuses.
I don’t know where you got your religious training, but you are 5000% WRONG about intentional intoxication not being a sin. Not only is it a sin, but it is a Mortal sin. Just ask any priest, or you can enter examination of conscience oon any search engine and log on to one of those sites. You will find they all include willful intoxication as a mortal sin!I don’t believe it is the Catholic Church’s position that ANY type of intoxication is wrong.
